LOVE

I think the sign of a true soulmate is not someone you just want to do the super cool stuff with. A real soulmate is the person who makes any ordinary day fun. Some people make all these huge plans to do with their special someone, forget that. Find someone who you can take grocery shopping and still have a blast with. Find someone who makes you look forward to waking up on Monday. Some days I wish I could go back in life. Not to change things, just to feel a few things twice. The more chances you give someone the less respect they will start to have for you. They will begin to ignore the standards that you have set because they will know another chance will always be given. They are not afraid to lose you because they know no matter what you won’t walk away. They get comfortable with depending on your forgiveness. Never let a person get comfortable disrespecting you.   We may love the wrong person, cry for the wrong person, but one thing is sure, mistake will help us find the right person someday.  Love is not always perfect. It is not fairy-tale or a storybook. And it does not always come easy. Love is overcoming obstacles, facing challenges, fighting to be together, holding on and never letting go. It is a short word, easy to spell, difficult to define and impossible to live without. Love is work, but most of all, love is realizing that every hour, every minute, and every second was worth it because you did it together. It is not love’s job to punish you. And remember the person you love is just as broken as you are when they fall short. No one is perfect so do not hold them to this standard. Love someone who is humble, kind, and empathetic. Not only with you, but with a beggar on the street, or a stranger in the supermarket. Common courtesy is important. Compassion is important. Kindness is important.    Love someone that you want to experience all of life’s ups and downs with. Someone who will hold your hand through the worst time of your life. When they see you at your worst, when you are broken, and they don’t run away but help you put the pieces back together, last but not least, find someone who wouldn’t mind waking up to you in the morning, seeing your wrinkles and grey hair but still falls in love with you all over again. That’s true love.   I have loved. I have lost and I have changed. It has been difficult but I have learned so much from it. I have learned that people can hurt you so deeply and not even worry about you. I learned that good people can change in a minute when their hearts have been broken. But the most important thing I have learned is that every person in this world is strong enough to let go. People come and go and that is life. The most important thing is to stand up and realize that you deserve something better than a person who gives up on you. When people make you feel unwanted, don’t leave to make them feel sad or guilty, they won’t. Leave because you no longer have a reason to stay. Sometimes you have to be strong for yourself. What is meant to be will end up good and what is not will not. Love is worth fighting for, but sometimes you can’t be the only one fighting, at times, people need to fight for you too. If they don’t, you just have to move on and realize what you gave them was more than they were willing to give you.  A good relationship is when two people accept each other’s past, support each other’s present, and love each other enough to encourage each other’s future. So don’t rush love. Find a partner who encourages you to grow, who won’t cling to you, who will let you go out into the world, and trust that you will come back. This is what true love is all about, and it’s always worth the wait. Say goodbye to drama, toxic people and self-criticism. Say yes to more happiness, love in your life. And time with good friends.
